Skin boosters are an injectable treatment, with relatively low risks. The treatment involves injecting fine droplets of hyaluronic acid based gel under the surface of the skin. Hyaluronic acid is naturally occurring in the body, but as we age, our levels of it drop. The treatment improves overall texture, hydration and elasticity of the skin. This extra dose of hydration has the effect of plumping up the skin, which can minimise fine lines and makes the skin look and feel healthier and fresher.
It is recommended to have three sessions of skin boosters to achieve smooth, revitalised skin and improve skin concerns, such as sun damage and, of course, the signs of ageing.
Our most obvious signs of ageing are fine lines and wrinkles, this treatment can help improve the appearance of fine lines and prevent lines from forming. This makes the treatment a great alternative to neurotoxins or it can be used in addition, having this treatment alongside neurotoxin could achieve a far superior result.
The skin booster treatments we offer can be used to rehydrate the face, neck, décolleté and hands.

Are skin boosters safe?
Skin boosters are a safe treatment, which uses very lightweight hyaluronic acid. Injections are superficial, away from nerves and vessels, so risks are minimal.
How many skin booster sessions will I need?
It is recommended to have 2 to 3 sessions initially, these sessions being four weeks apart. The first session aims to hydrate within the first four weeks, as the hyaluronic acid attracts water molecules to the surface of the skin, the second session and third session boost the effects and ensure longevity. Skin boosters are not permanent. After your initial sessions, it is beneficial to have one session every 8 - 12 months to maintain your results.

What happens at my appointment?
When you arrive for your appointment, you will be shown to our clinic room. Our aesthetic nurse will answer any questions you may still have regarding the treatment and review your consent form. If you are happy to go ahead, the treatment will start.
We will remove all make up first. We will then apply a numbing cream to your face 10 - 15 minutes prior to injections. Once your face is feeling numb, your face will be wiped of the cream and then cleansed with an anti-microbial. The skin boosters are injected into the superficial layer of your skin. Skin boosters are normally injected using the BAP technique, which involves 5 injections to each side of the face.
Afterwards, the injection sites will be cleansed and you'll be given aftercare advice. Downtime after these injections can sometimes last a few days and treated areas can sometimes look like they have nettle stings. Some clients prefer to ensure they don't have any events in the days following treatment, this can include business meetings, going out for a meal or going away on holiday.
It's important to note that you will not see a change straight away. It takes about 2 or 3 weeks to see the full effects of the treatment. With peak improvements being after the 2nd or 3rd session.
