Book your injectable appointment? Excited to achieve a new look? Amazing, we can't wait either!
Although, we'd like to run through a few things you can do to ensure the outcome is the best it can be.
The following article will inform you on how to prepare for your injectable treatment, including pre-treatment advice for up to a week before your appointment with Heyday Aesthetics, Sheffield.
Pre treatment advice:
Medical History:
Most importantly, you will have been asked to fill out a medical question prior to your appointment. Please ensure that this is completed and if anything changes in the run up to your treatment, inform your practitioner at your appointment
Medications:
Stop taking medications that increase your risks of bleeding three days prior to your appointment, if you are able to. These medications include; aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oils. Do not stop these medications if they are prescribed by your GP
Do NOT stop anti-coagulation medications if they are prescribed by your GP, such as, warfarin, aspirin, clopidogrel, etc. If you are on any of these medication, you must discuss them with the aesthetic nurse practitioner and she'll be able to advise you further
Avoid taking anti-inflammatories (such as aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen) for 3 days prior to treatment (unless this has been prescribed by your doctor) as this increases the risk of bruising
Health Status:
If you are unwell on the day of your appointment, contact your practitioner to reschedule.
Sun Exposure:
Avoid sunbeds and tanning for 1 week before and after 2 weeks after treatment. This is especially important if you are receiving dermal filler as ultraviolet radiation (UV) in sunlight and tanning beds can break down hyaluronic acid, a key ingredient in dermal fillers. This sun exposure can also diminish the dermal fillers' effectiveness and potentially aggravate the skin as it heals after treatment.
Skincare Products:
Avoid using active skincare products (e.g., Retinol, AHA/BHAs) for 3 days before the procedure and a week post procedure.
Exercise and Alcohol:
Avoid heavy exercise for 24 hours before your appointment.
Avoid heavy alcohol consumption for 24 hours before your appointment.
Bruising Prevention:
If prone to bruising, consider taking arnica orally a few days before the treatment.
If you're prone to cold sores, Start taking anti-viral tablets 2 days before the procedure. Contact nurse hannah directly for more information
Be aware that you will not be able to wear glasses / sunglasses for at least 10 days post procedure. So plan accordingly and order eye contacts if you're able to.
By following these guidelines, you can help ensure a smooth and effective treatment process.
