Anti-wrinkle injections (also known as Botox) are a non-surgical cosmetic procedure, which help to reduce the appearance of facial lines/ wrinkles. At Heyday Aesthetics, your Botox injections are always completed by an aesthetic nurse, within our clean, clinical space.
Traditionally, Botox injections are placed into the upper portion of the face, treating facial lines that appear on the forehead or around the eyes. These areas are crow's feet, forehead and frown lines. Our advanced aesthetic nurse is also trained to place Botox injection in other parts of the facial area, for example, the jaw, neck and chin, etc. It is even possible to have botox injected into your axillas to help control excessive sweating.
What does botox do?
The injections contain neurotoxin (Botulinum Toxin A) - which is a naturally occurring protein derived from the plant bacterium and when injected into muscle, the toxin interferes with the transmission of nerve impulses that tell muscles to contract. It does this by blocking acetylcholine receptors in the muscle. This then temporarily reduces muscle activity in that area, resulting in a softening of wrinkles and dynamic lines.

'Baby Botox'
'Baby Botox', also known as 'micro-Botox' or 'preventative Botox' involves injecting small doses of botulinum toxin into targeted facial muscles to achieve a more subtle and natural-looking result than traditional anti-wrinkle treatments. The treatment uses minimal dosing and this approach aims to soften fine lines and wrinkles while preserving facial expression and movement.
Other treatments
As well as relaxing wrinkles, botox also has variety of other cosmetic uses, such as, correction of gummy smile, smoothing a dimpled chin, creating a tightened neck with non-surgical neck lift, jawline slimming and even reducing excessive sweating.
Most treatments: When having botox injections to reduce wrinkles, you can expect to see full results between day 10 - 14. Please note that results aren't instant as it takes a few days for the toxin to have an effect on the muscles. Results are expected to last 3 - 4 months, but many people report that it can last up to 6 months.
Jawline Slimming: Results can take longer to achieve a slimmer jaw. After one month following treatment, the jaw expect to look slimmer for around 6 months.
Excessive Sweating: Results can be achieved in as little as 3 days post procedure and last up to 4 months.

What happens at my appointment?
When you arrive for your appointment at our clinic in Sheffield, you will be shown to our clinic room. Our aesthetic nurse will answer any questions you may still have regarding the treatment and review your consent form. If you are happy to go ahead, the treatment will start.
Your face will be wiped of make up and then cleansed with an anti-microbial. Toxin will be injected into muscles in your face using a very fine needle. This can cause some mild discomfort, but the full treatment should only take 5 - 10 minutes. You will need injections in different places, depending on the area being treated. We will ask you to move the muscles in your face to help find the best place for the injections.
After the toxin has been administered, the injection sites will be cleansed and you'll be given your aftercare advice. Downtime after toxin injections can vary dependent on the amount of toxin administered, some clients have localised swelling to their injection sites, which usually resolves after 10 minutes.
It's important to note that you will not see a change straight away. It takes about 2 or 3 days to start working and 2 weeks to see the full effect.
